Our IT Department tackles Cyber Security with a few simple recommendations to protect yourself and your business on these high volume cyber days.  Online security should be on the forefront of the mind of a business owner on a daily basis, but especially during high volume times like Cyber Monday and the holiday shopping season, individuals need to be on alert.

Easy ways to enhance your cyber security

  • Install and/or update your AntiVirus Program: Most antivirus programs do much more than just protecting against computer viruses. There is an abundance of options that come with whichever antivirus program you choose. Reviewing what you and your company needs in a protection program is the first step in making sure your data is safe. Simple protection can be enhanced with URL blocking, firewalls, and more.
  • Implement a Password Locker: Did you know that the most popular password in this day and age is 123456? Having a variety of passwords that meet security standards is achievable with a password manager. Much like a digital wallet, there are layers of protection while managing the variety of passwords needed for various sites.
  • Review your disaster recovery options: Having a disaster recovery option is like having an earthquake preparedness kit in your car. It’s easy to forget about, until you really need it. Reviewing, updating, and implementing your disaster recovery plan in a non-crisis environment will help prevent any unexpected issues.
